Two out of every five companies do not survive an information disaster.

The most relevant measure for protecting a company’s data is back-up security copies of their information. A drop in the electrical flow, a flood, a fire and, even a small short circuit can create an information disaster. All companies are subject to fortuitous or intended events which will affect their information services.

It is estimated that two out of five companies will not survive an information system’s disaster, according to a report made by Gartner, an independent consulting company. For this reason, in case of a catastrophe, data recovery and device resurrection are crucial.

Files managed through the information process are confidential: payroll, taxes, reports and accounting are essential to the clients and must remain safe. This documentation must be presented each cycle to the different management areas, so any loss of data may result in severe fines that companies will have to pay.

Performing backups is the same as making a security copy of predetermined information, which will be stored in a safe location (generally, in an installed server at the same office of the Company, or at the installations of a Technology Company).  This is not the only possible measure of prevention – a complete contingency plan includes other aspects, such as fire extinguishers, anti-theft alarms or analysis of the most critical areas of the Company -, but this is the most basic form of security.

Administration of content is the solution to backing-up your most important information and files - routinely and on-line. “The secure copies will be made automatically; each time a file is created or modified.  Once a day, all your data will be uploaded to the server, including the new items as well as changes made to existing files, just in case you would like to return to them for consultation".

But, what advantages are offered by saving data by way of the Internet?  “It is important to save your data in a place that is away from your office location in order to have a back-up in the event of fires, theft or computer equipment failure.  Maintaining this in a remote server which is accessed through the Internet guarantees that at all times you will have all your documents available.”.

Inexpensive, but is it safe?

The Internet is a very simple and comfortable alternative for individual professionals and SMB, because it offers Back-up Applications that are very simple to use and inexpensive.  In addition, these solutions will avoid the necessity of contracting a Technician. “The only attention needed is a few minutes when you wish to expand the number of documents you wish to save”.

In addition to the system Back-up, the servers have antivirus protection and a firewall (programs that permit dependable communication and prohibit hackers).
